Sleepy

Brian & I went to an engagement party for Corrie & Kenneth this weekend. We had lots of fun seeing everyone in Batesville, and we got lots of good pictures for Corrie.

Harrison is a full-fledged fist sucker now...

Nonna bought some balloons for Harrison. I thought he would be too young to enjoy them, but he played with them well!

He had some bonding time with Poppa while they rest of us rushed around getting ready for church.

and after church too

I think we are getting close to rolling over. I guess it is time to stop leaving him sleeping on the couch or our bed because this is how I found him after a few minutes of sleeping on the couch one morning this week. When I left him, he was flat on his back.

Next we have a couple of weekends at home, so hopefully we can catch up on some rest. Harrison usually only wakes up once per night but that still adds up to exhaustion at the end of the week. But he is the sweetest boy & we wouldn't trade him for anything!

Changes

I started back to work this week, which means Harrison started daycare! I am very sad not to be with him all day. Dropping him off the first day went better than I expected, because I forgot to put his bouncer together when I dropped it off the week before. So I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that figured out, and I still haven't taken batteries to put in it! Harrison is slowly adjusting. He is not eating as much during the day or taking as long of naps, but he is getting better every day. He is definitely tired when he gets home though! Today he slept for over 3 hours in his car seat after we got home.

In his St. Patty's Day outfit that he didn't make it home in- apparently he has a drooling problem.

Finn has not really interacted with Harrison a lot since we brought him home. He just knows that Harrison has taken a lot of his attention & he isn't too happy about that. He is slowly coming around.

Harrison has never really liked a pacifier unless he is really tired, and then he only sucks on it for a few seconds before spitting it out. He has now discovered his fist. He has a hand in his mouth almost all the time now!

Aunt Corrie and Uncle Kenneth came to visit last weekend. Uncle Kenneth & Harrison got a little bonding time. We can't wait to see them again tomorrow!

wedding bells

We made our first over night trip to Batesville at the end of January for a youth reunion at the Methodist Church. Sadly, I have no pictures from that weekend. We had a lot of fun catching up with everyone. Brian and I felt like we packed our entire house just to go 2 hours up the interstate, but we figured we needed to get used to it since we will be traveling that road a lot until April 16th. All because this sweet couple has finally decided to get married!!!

Kenneth & Corrie (Corrie's hair was much bigger than this when she first arrived at the shower - ha ha!)

We have already been to 3 of their parties and have 3 more to go (I think!). The first was a seasonal shower. Corrie got lots of cute stuff. Too bad all the stuff I liked was too big to sneak into my car!

Corrie and her presents

Alden wanted to help open presents so badly!

Some of the bridesmaids - I definitely need a tan!

Next was Corrie's "big" shower as we call it in Batesville. Here are she & her mom with her future in-laws.

2 of the cutest little girls I know, and no they are not twins. Hattie (in Corrie's lap) is the flower girl.

Harrison made a quick appearance at Aunt Corrie's shower. Daddy had to come get him though since he didn't think it was nap time. I think he was scared of that many women in one house!

That night, we had Kenneth & Corrie's stock the bar party at the Rivers' house. A very fun, and surprisingly early, night.

Their "stocked" trunk.

Right before the end of the night

Our next party is a cocktail party in a few weekends. Then we have the bacheloretter party!! I don't know how wild and crazy it will get with all these "responsible" parents throwing it!

One picture of Harrison in this post was just not enough! He is very good a blowing spit bubbles.

2 months

My mom and I took Harrison for his 2 month check up on February 21. Shots were no fun, but they were over quickly. Harrison quit crying as soon as I picked him up.

Those shots didn't keep him down too long. I guess Daffy Duck band-aids make it all better!

2 month stats:
12lbs 3oz
23.5 inches
these are in the 60th percentile
15.5 inch head circumference
this is in the 40th percentile
wearing mostly 0-3 month clothes but some 3-6 month stuff too
wearing a size 1 diaper

Harrison is getting so big! It is making me sad. I want him to stay little a lot longer than he is. Harrison is smiling & laughing a lot now, and he is very vocal. He will definitely be a talker one day soon!

Harrison has always been a good sleeper. He made Mama very happy by sleeping through the night every night for a whole week. Then we went out of town for the weekend & his schedule was thrown off. Maybe we will return to the all night sleeping very soon!

He is very good at playing and entertaining himself, but only for about 15-30 minutes at a time. Then we get a look like the one below.

Brian and I are enjoying every day with this sweet angel we have been blessed with. He really is growing up too fast for us but we love all the new things he is doing!

2 weeks

As you can tell, I am very new to this. Currently, I can't figure out how to get my header to show up. It is on there when I go to edit my blog, but when I look for it on the blog, I can't find it. Oh well, maybe it will show up soon!

When we went for Harrison's 2 week check up we got to meet our wonderful pediatrician - Dr. Flowers. He likes to be called Dr. Craig, and we love him already!

2 week stats:
8lbs 3oz
21 inches
14.25 inch head circumference
all roughly in the 10th percentile
still in newborn clothes & diapers

I don't think this was his first bath (we were too nervous to take pictures!), but it is close enough. He is sort of indifferent about baths. He doesn't cry, but he isn't smiling either!

We had visitors every weekend for several weeks after Harrison was born. This is 4 generations of Riddicks. My grandaddy is 89 and thinks that Harrison is the best thing he has ever seen!

Brian's dad positioned Harrison for this picture.

Adjusting

After the first couple of weeks, Brian & I were adjusting fairly well to life with a new born baby. Harrison is such a good baby. He has really spoiled us. He has always slept well & is definitely eating well. We have taken about a thousand pictures of him already. Here are a few from his first weeks at home with us.

Christmas eve

Our sweet Santa

As you can see from the pictures, Brian and I had the best Christmas we could ever ask for. Since we received the best present ever, we didn't exchange gifts this year!

Aunt Corrie came to visit. This was right before she made me go try on bridesmaid dresses ONE WEEK after giving birth! But we are so happy she is getting married!!

Daddy likes to come home for lunch for some reason...

Harrison is a bulldog fan already!

Aunt Mollie came to visit. Sadly, we did not get a picture of her holding Harrison, but she took this picture which is one of my absolute favorites!

Beginning

I decided to start a blog to try to keep up with Harrison's  growth. I have heard of several people publishing their blogs as a keepsake. I haven't been very good in Harrison's short little life with keeping up with when he first smiled, laughed, etc. So maybe this will help me.

I guess I will start at the beginning...

on our way to the hospital

13 hours after labor started we got to hold the most precious baby boy

this picture sums up his personality so far - completely laid back.

William Harrison Whitmire was born on December 21, 2010 at 7:31pm. He weighed 7lbs 11oz & was 20.5 inches long. Our entire family is completely in love & can't get enough of this sweet baby.
