Saturday with the besties

This past Saturday has been a long time coming. Ashley, Lauren, Mollie & I got to hang out with all of our kids! We had so much fun! Ashley was coming to town with her two boys for a birthday party. So she & Mollie decided to come together so the four of us could hang out & get the kiddos to all play together at the same time.

Ashley, Mollie, Lauren & I lived together our junior year in college in the Delta Gamma house. Yes, four girls in a dorm room! It was, by far, the funniest year of college. Lauren & I were friends, Mollie & Ashley were friends, & Ashley & I were sort of friends, so the 4 of us decided we would try living together. It was one of the best decisions of my life. The four of us would stay up all hours of the night talking & laughing & crying. We played jokes on each other & a few other people. I don't think that any of us fought over anything that year. We have experienced many things together & this was just another set of memories to add to our list.

Ashley has 2 boys, Steele (7) & Kase (4). Mollie has 1 boy, Elias (3). Lauren has 1 girl, Ana Spencer (almost 1!!). Elias & Harrison are 2 days shy of being exactly 6 months apart. Ana Spencer & Sadie are exactly (to the day) 5 months apart.  So we had a full house on Saturday!

We ate pizza & let the kids play inside. Lauren was definitely not used to having that many boys in her house! Then we changed all the kids into swim suits (except for Sadie, she took a 2 hour nap while everyone else went outside) & let them play in the sprinklers & the pool. Then we had a little make shift picnic with all of our snacks.

We have definitely let our time between seeing each other get too long. It is so easy to put off doing things like this because life stuff always gets in the way or there are too many things that have to line up with kids or you have to think about nap times & meal times, etc, etc. But God created us for relationships, and I think women especially need time to be together with each other to talk, laugh & cry together & just support each other. God brought these special ladies into my life a little more than 10 years ago for a reason. They are all very special to me. I know they are in my life not for a season but for a reason, and I so desperately want our kids to know & love each other too!

6 months

Nothing like writing your 6 month update 4 days before your baby girl is 7 months old...

Stats:

Weight: 14lbs 15 1/2oz (40%)                                     (Harrison) 17lbs 1oz (50%)
Length: 25 3/4" (50%)                                                                  27" (60%)
Head Circumference: 16 3/4" (50%)                                             17 1/2" (60%)

She is still keeping up with him except for weight. She is trying her best to gain weight though, this girl has an appetite!

This is her usual schedule - of course, sometimes there are extra feedings in there & differences in times. Nurses at 6am, 6pm & 7:30pm. Takes 4oz bottles at 9am, 12pm, 3pm. Eats fruit with cereal at 8:30am, fruit & vegetable mixed at 12pm, vegetable & fruit mixed with cereal at 6pm. I swear she would eat as much as we will give her though. Lots of times at her night feeding, we add an extra serving of applesauce.

Sadie is wearing a size 2 diaper, size 6 month clothes (pjs are getting a little short), size 1 shoes (she never wears shoes, I just know what size fits her).

She is still sleeping all night. We usually put her to bed at 7:30pm & she wakes up at 6am ready to eat.
She still loves her paci. She is drooling up a storm, but no sign of any teeth yet. She is rolling all over the place & doing a little bit of a belly crawl.

Sadie is the sweetest little baby. She hardly ever cries. She is always smiling. Her favorite person in the world is Harrison. Anything he does (short of throwing his sippy cup & hitting her in the nose) is the funniest thing in the world to her.

Right after her 6 month birthday, she got her first bruise. It just happened to be on her nose in the middle of her eyes from a bouncy seat accident.

My boyfriend Charlie

Sadie's boyfriend Charlie was welcomed into the world June 26th. Charlie's mama is my best friend Corrie (we have been friends since elementary school). We will definitely try to be in-laws one day!! He came in at 9lbs 7oz & 21.5 inches. Mama & I drove to Memphis Wednesday morning to get in a little loving on the new babe. He is such a cutie pie & has a head FULL of black hair! Sadie was already trying to hold his hand at their first meeting - I don't know how much her daddy will like that!

We can't wait to love on him some more and spoil him rotten!!

Too little time

Little did I know that with two kids under the age of 2, there is hardly time to brush your teeth - so there is definitely not adequate time for blogging...

Highlights since May (my last post):

My grandfather got really sick & went to heaven to meet Jesus. He really was a wonderful man! He was a farmer & an educator by trade & the rule enforcer at home. When Grandaddy told you to stop running in his house, you listened! He was a strong Christian man who left no doubt as to where he was going when his soul left this earth. He was always trying to teach you something & the majority of the time, it was something you didn't already know or had never heard of before. His funeral was very much a celebration of his life with one of his longtime friends giving the eulogy, my cousin singing one of his favorite songs & me reading a poem that my grandmother picked out.

Harrison had what we thought was a stomach bug but ended up being a reflux flare-up. No fun to clean up vomit as much as we did in the middle of the night! After about a month of zantac, we think he is finally better. Now we are just praying we don't have any more flare-ups....

My brother finally got married!! He & his wife, Ruth, had a very small wedding at my aunt & uncle's house. Harrison got to be the ring bearer. We talked about for weeks how he was going to walk up to Uncle Will & give him a pillow. We forgot to mention that he needed to stand with Uncle Will - oops! But Harrison did exactly what we told him & handed Uncle Will the pillow, then turned around & walked off. He looked like such a grown-up in his white shirt, dark jeans & boots! Sadie was a little angel baby & didn't make a peep during the whole wedding (partly because she was getting a bottle).

We have had a fun & busy summer so far: birthday parties, becoming a full-on thumb sucker (Sadie), going to the splash pad with friends (luckily it is 5 seconds from our house!), having a little sibling bonding, potty-training (ok not so much fun, but part of the summer), helping in the garden, getting ready for a beach trip, and eating lots of ice cream!

Harrison has just now gotten a little jealous of all the attention Sadie gets, especially from Mommy. But our little girl thinks her big brother hung the moon already!

Even though things are crazy hectic at our house most of the time, I feel like the time is slipping away too quickly. My babies are growing up too fast for me. Sadie is already sitting up & started saying "dadada" this morning. I want to keep them little way longer than they are staying that way!
