Yay Dawgs!

Today was the first football game of the year that we took Harrison to. Honestly, we have not been brave enough to take him yet & with everything going on in our lives, Brian & I have only been to 1 game ourselves. So today Brian, Pops, Harrison & me loaded up to go to Starkville. The game started at 11:20, which is right before Harrison's nap time. Luckily, he is a football fan! He breezed right through the game with no problem. We left at the beginning of the 4th quarter. He did have a little break down when we ran into some friends on the way out & a little boy tried to take his pompom (that he took from his cousin) & the little boy wouldn't give Harrison his ball. He walked almost the rest of the way to the car crying, but fell asleep about 5 minutes in to the car ride & slept the whole way home!

Overall, this ballgame was a success & a great win for the bulldogs! I hope he has this much fun at ballgames next year. We will just have to find a babysitter for little Sadie!

where do I start??

I am obviously not very good at blogging since September was my last post. Since September, Brian and I have bought a house, moved & mostly settled - YAY!

this is Harrison's favorite part of the house

not a very good picture of the front

I don't have good pictures of the inside either since we moved our stuff in but we are so happy! God definitely had a plan for us to be in this house & not building a house. And we also still have a lot for sale if anyone needs one in Brandon!!

October has been very busy! We had a family reunion, visit to the pumpkin patch, Trunk or Treat, trick or treating, & several ballgames among lots of doctors appointments. Sadie is growing right on schedule. We are looking at an induction somewhere between December 21-30 if she doesn't come before then on her own. I started having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions around 22 weeks & they have not stopped. They keep getting stronger & more frequent but no other progression so far (thank goodness! we don't want her here too early!) She is a very active little girl & has the hiccups at least 5 times every day. Harrison is still unaware of what is about to happen. He will acknowledge that I have a baby in my belly but I don't think he is making the connection that she will actually come out one day & invade his territory! He is getting so big & it is making me so sad. He is now in a big boy bed (complete with Elmo sheets), refusing any help with meals, trying to dress himself, trying to brush his own teeth, and making complete sentences.

Now on to pictures!!

Weekend at Papaw's

This weekend we went to stay with Papaw & Nanny (Brian's dad & stepmom). We got there just in time Friday night for Harrison to have his first experience feeding the cows. Since he was locked to my lap through the whole experience, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of his reaction. Overall, he liked the smaller cows much better than the bigger cows, and he really liked to point out all of their noses. Harrison really loved riding on Papaw's ranger & getting to sit in Nanny's lap to "drive."
On Saturday, Brian and I went to the State game, which was incredible!! Papaw was keeping Harrison by himself, so we just went to the game & left - sadly, no time to tailgate.

Harrison got to play all weekend with cousins Emma & Peyton. I definitely think we are going to have to buy him a trampoline. They have a small one with a net around it. He spent several hours there this weekend. I have a cute video of him jumping but can't get it to upload :(

And we have already put a Ranger on our Christmas list...

especially if it comes with one of these cool wagons!

We had a great weekend & one tired boy when we left today! Can't wait to go back!

Hair cut

It has been several weeks now, but I still haven't blogged about Harrison's first official hair cut. I have cut his hair 3 or 4 times while he was in the bath tub. We finally took him for a professional hair cut in August. He did great! We took a book & 2 grandparents with us to make sure we had distractions to keep him busy while Lacey was cutting his hair. He watched Daddy get his hair cut, then climbed in the chair & let Lacey put the cloak on him. Then he "read" & sat very, very still the whole time she cut his hair! Here are a few pictures:

A little too busy afterwards to take pictures. This is the best after picture that we got!

Overall, we had a good experience. We were actually invited back to have Harrison's hair cut again!

Baby Girl

In my case, it is definitely true that the second time around is completely different. Not just how I have felt during this pregnancy, which is much better. But also that I have not read up on what size she is every week & how far she has come developmentally. I have not taken one pregnancy picture! I took a picture every week that I was pregnant with Harrison. For now, I will blame it on that fact that we are still displaced in a rental  house & I am focusing all my attention on getting a new place to live!

Sadie Jane is getting plenty of attention though. She is growing right on track. I have been feeling her move since about week 15, which is much earlier than when I felt Harrison. She is very active! Almost every time I am still, she is moving! She is opinionated already too. Harrison treats Brian and me as a jungle gym a lot of the time. Anytime he is climbing on me & steps or sits on her, she lets him know that she does not appreciate it! Similar to my pregnancy with Harrison, I am not having a lot of specific food cravings. Most of the time, nothing really sounds good to me but I eat because I am hungry.

Since we bought most everything gender neutral for Harrison, we will not have to buy a lot of stuff for Sadie. So I am concentrating on filling her closet up! It is driving Brian nuts! We have had a couple of friends who are sending us stuff, so that helps me reign in my clothing "wants" for her.

My mom is helping me stock her closet too. These are all the dresses my mom has for Sadie. All of them were either mine or hers when we were little. These range from newborn size to 4T maybe.

Brian and I joke that Sadie will be our macho child since Harrison has always been very slender and that she will not have any hair since Harrison has always had a good bit of hair. But regardless, she already has a few bows for her future collection (and plenty of pink so people will know she is a girl!).

Our church had a fundraiser craft fair, so I had to help them out & buy some bows ;)
I have already started planning her nursery, but it is very hard because Harrison is still using the crib she will use & I don't have an actual room to decorate! Here is the fabric we are using for her bedding. My mom is making her bedding just like she did Harrison's.

There is also a solid grey that I don't have a picture of. The skirt will be the chevron print & the bumper pad will be the other 4 fabrics on one side & pale pink minky dot on the inside of the crib.

I have started sewing a little for Sadie too. This is my first clothing Pinterest project. I am very pleased with how it turned out & it was really quick too! I am waiting to do months 7-12 until we see what size Sadie will be then.

My mom helped with the gown for Sadie this weekend. I have several more planned to make her. The pants are for Harrison. He is ready for one football game with his pants & Christmas eve with these pj pants. I will make shirst to coordinate. I just haven't gotten that far yet. There isn't much room for me to spread my sewing stuff out in this rental because we don't have a dining room for me to use the table as my sewing space!

Brian and I have changed our direction. We are no longer building a house. It was going to be more expensive than we thought & take longer that we had time for since this little blessing surprised us. So, we have been looking at houses half-heartedly because we wanted to sell our lot before we really started pursuing a house hunt. Through some family friends, we have found a house that we both absolutely love & put an offer in on it today. Please pray that everything goes smoothly. If it does, we can be in this house by the beginning to middle of October! It won't be a moment too soon for me. I am so ready to have my own space & all our stuff accessible (half of our things are in storage right now). Plus Harrison will have a huge yard to play in, which he does not have right now. If he wants to play outside, we generally have to go somewhere else :(

Beach time

Last week we went with 16 family members & friends to the beach like we have for the past few summers. Last year was definitely our first beach trip that was different because of baby Harrison. This year was different because Brian was sick all week, it rained almost every day & Harrison wanted to run around the pool all day instead of get in it. Overall, we still had a good trip. It was good just to get away for a little while.

We did cheer for the USA in all the Olympic events

played peek-a-boo during commercials

begged for food off everyone's plate

wore our ring inside & around the neck instead of in the pool

looked through a fish's mouth

cried because we had to wear a life jacket

slept while Mama & Daddy shopped

made Poppa walk around everywhere

drove a big rig

insisted on swimming without any kind of floatation device

but mostly we just relaxed

Next year IF we make a beach trip, it will definitely be a lot different than this year!!

Baby Whitmire #2

My doctor was super sweet & let us come back within 2 weeks of our last appointment to have our gender sonogram (perfect timing since we found out right before going to the beach & outlet mall!) Brian and I went on Wednesday. Everything looks perfect with this little baby! Heart rate was 142, weighing in about 6 oz, the sonogram tech kept saying everything looked excellent - wonderful words to hear! We were told that Harrison will be a big brother to a sweet little sister!!! I was a little shocked. Most everyone kept telling us with both pregnancies that we were definitely having a girl. I was a little skeptical since Brian has the majority of boys on his dad's side of the family. Brian and I both kept asking the girl if she was 100% sure & she assured us that she was (hopefully she is right since I have already bought a few pink things!!) I have felt completely different with this pregnancy but I just kept telling myself it was because I have a little boy that I can't really be sick or tired with since he is non-stop motion. We are prepping him already that there is a little girl named Sadie in Mama's belly. Hopefully once she gets here he won't jump up & down on her head or "pat" her as hard as he pats my stomach!

18 months

Apparently I am not very good at keeping up with this blogging business...
We had Harrison's 18 month appointment at the beginning of July.
Weight: 25lbs 2oz (25%)
Height: 34.25" (90%)
Head Circumference: 19.5" (75%).
He is still sleeping 10+ hours every night & taking a 2.5-3 hour nap every day. Thank goodness he is like his mama & loves his sleep! He is still very easy to put down. We put him in his bed & turn on a lullaby cd & kiss him goodnight. Usually he wakes us up in the morning either laughing or calling out MAMA or DADA! And right after breakfast, he is asking to go outside all day long!
He has started watching some cartoons. He loves Curious George, Cat in the Hat & anything with Elmo ("Melmo") in it. He still doesn't like long car rides but a portable DVD player definitely helps!
He is saying new words everyday. I feel like I can't keep up with what all he can say now! He has started some phrases. "Down please" when he wants out of his highchair. "Thank you" "Please bite" or "Please snack" when he is hungry. "Please phone" when he wants to look at pictures or videos of himself on my phone. "Bye bye y'all" which I think he picked up from me telling people bye whenever we leave places. "Night night" at bedtime. My least favorite phrase is "No, no Mama". He says it so cutely that I can't be too mad at him though! But mostly he says phrases with please at the beginning or end. Hopefully he will have manners ;)
He has started working with puzzles & loves taking items out of their container & then putting them right back in. He is getting really good at throwing a ball & hitting one with anything that resembles a bat. He also tries his best to shot a basketball in the goal everytime we are in our church gym.
Harrison is definitely full of energy & keeps us on our toes, but he is so much fun! He really is a sweet & loving little boy. Everytime he sees family or his friends from school or church, he hugs them. He isn't very good at sharing yet & has started yelling MINE a lot (which I am sure will only get worse!)

Catch Up...

Wow...there has been a lot going on since my last post. I will try to catch up in the correct order.

Brian and I bought a lot in our favorite neighborhood in Brandon last year. Our original plan was to pay it off over a couple of years & then build... Needless to say, our plans changed. Our house has been on the market since about April and now it is SOLD!! We are living in a rental until we build a house- something Brian and I said we would never do. Moving in this heat was miserable but we are so grateful that our house sold & we are starting this new journey to building a house & moving into the actual town of Brandon!

In May, my bff Corrie finally turned 30. Her parents planned a surprise birthday party for her in Batesville. We drove up for the night to surprise her.

Our next big event was a baby shower for little Lauren who is set to welcome Ana Spencer by July 20. We had so much fun showering her & we can't wait to see Lauren as a new mama!

Georgiana Spencer Willis is spoiled already

Yes, you read that correctly. In the midst of all of our house chaos, Brian and I found out that we will be welcoming a new little Whitmire around the end of December! Surprise! We were really blown away & not expecting this at all. The first due date the doctor gave us was actually Harrison's birthday. Our next appointment, my due date was moved back to December 30. So before the end of the year, we will go from a family of 3 to a family of 4. During all of our waiting on Harrison the first time around, I always prayed for a surprise pregnancy. Well, the Lord still answers prayers! I have felt much better this time around. With Harrison, I was sick all day everyday for 20 weeks. The biggest difference this time around is I am just completely wiped out the majority of the time. I think part of that comes with having a very active 18 month old boy who keeps me running! So we will be extra busy over the next few months. Hopefully, we will welcome this new baby & then shortly afterwards move into our new house.

Harrison goes for his 18 month check up this week, so I will post an update on him later.
