walker

Harrison loves to push things around while walking behind them. He took his first steps by himself this weekend at my grandfather's house. He has a couple of walk-behind toys that he loves. When we visited my other set of grandparents this weekend, we found him enjoying the original walker...

He originally went after the tennis balls, but quickly found out there was something better! We all had a great time watching him "walk" around the house!

Birthday party

Harrison will turn 1 in a couple of days! WOW! This year has flown by! We had his birthday party last weekend because of planned Christmas get togethers & parties. We had a great time with our families! Harrison was a little grumpy due to no nap before the party but he played & ate & opened presents with my help. Then he crashed for the night at 5:30!

We had such a great time! Harrison was spoiled with the overflowing amount of gifts he received. We had to store some toys for later... I still can't believe he is almost a year old!

Thankful

This year for Thanksgiving, Brian, Harrison & I took off to spend part of the week in Orange Beach with the Beene, Pearson & Owen families. This was Harrison's second trip to the beach. This time went much better because it was not 100 degrees on the beach everyday. We had a great time hanging out with everyone & eating lots of great food!

Brian and I have so much to be thankful for, including this precious little man in all these pictures. I hope everyone else had as good of a Thanksgiving as we did.

Halloween & Tubes

A lot has gone on since my last post...

Harrison had his first Halloween! We went to Batesville that weekend & took Harrison to the Scare on the Square Saturday morning to show off his cute costume! Then he was supposed to go trick-or-treating at some friends & family but his costume was too hot so he just visited.
Our daycare takes all the kids trick-or-treating in the hospital. Since Harrison is too young, his class had a "party" with puffs, juice & cupcakes. About an hour before the party, his teacher called me to tell me he had fever. So we packed up & went to the doctor. Yes, you guessed it.... another ear infection & he had to miss his party! It had only been 2 weeks since he had 3 rocephin shots in 3 days that were supposed to clear his ears. Our doctor referred us to an ENT for tubes. The doctor we were referred to was not able to see Harrison until November 16! I got on the phone & referred Harrison to a different doctor who could see us the next day. Dr. Fulcher said his ears were pretty bad & asked if we were interested in tubes, we could have a few days to think about it. Since Harrison has pretty much been on antibiotics since he was about 4 months old, Brian & I looked at each other, then the doctor & said we want tubes! Harrison was scheduled to have tubes today. We went in this morning, his tubes were over in about 20 minutes & after a morning nap, he has played all afternoon. He wasn't even really that bad coming off anesthesia. His pacifier & juice cup comforted him well (along with his mama rocking him). Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks.

playing with Mama's name tag before surgery this morning. I had to get a picture of him in that cute tiger gown!

at our church's Trunk or Treat with Ella & Parker. These boys are 13 days apart, both were grumpy at their first Trunk or Treat but they loved their graham crackers they got instead of candy! Ella was definitely glad for the candy!

playing with Finn

Maroon Friday; this kid loves that dog! When we tell him to call Finn, he goes straight to the window & howls - it is so cute!

Apparently, Harrison loves to look out the windows. This picture makes me think of Beyonce's single ladies video...

he is such a clean eater

In good news, the continuous ear infections have not had an impact on proper weight gain. Harrison now weighs over 21 pounds, still wearing a size 3 diaper, has moved all the way into 12 month clothes & is wearing 18 month sizes in one piece outfits, still no teeth but amazingly he is waking up now with morning breath (maybe it's the whole milk??) Hopefully these tubes will keep us from having many more ear infections.

Pumpkin Patch

Brian and I attempted to take Harrison to the pumpkin patch. After the Princess & Knights party all morning at our church, Harrison did not get his full nap in, so we were scared to get on a 45 minute hay ride with him. He is getting really good at melt downs lately! We will tackle the hay ride next year. For this year, we just took some pictures with all the scenery that was readily available!

loving the scarecrow

not so sure about the pumpkin

definitely loves the wagon!

finally decides he likes the hay

& finally, a touchdown!!

We can't wait until next year when we can take him on the hay ride to the actual pumpkin patch!!
Thanks Nona for our pumpkin outfit!

shots, touchdowns, & Finn

We took Harrison back to the doctor Friday for a check-up on his ear infection. Brian & I were both convinced that his ears were clear...WRONG! Friday, Saturday & Sunday we went to the doctor for Rocephin shots. These shots are pure torture!! We will go back in another 3 weeks to recheck his ears again. If they aren't clear this time, we will be referred to an ENT to consider tubes. Needless to say, our plans of going to the MSU game were changed. But we did watch the game from home...

Sadly Harrison only got to do the touchdown motion once during the game!

isn't that the cutest MState booty!

it's a rough day when  you fall asleep in your bouncer!
Harrison & Finn are still getting used to each other since Finn stays outside most of the time. One day Finn wants to play with Harrison & Harrison is standoffish; the next day it is the opposite.

My mom is one of the most talented people I know. She has had lots of projects since we found out we had a little boy on the way. She has completed all of them perfectly & most of the time quickly :) This is one of her latest projects:

we now have a true pumpkinhead!!

toboggans and pjs

I just have to share a couple of super cute pictures of my little man.

trying on a toboggan

Daddy went to watch Courageous with some men from our church tonight. This is the sequence of events that occured after supper & bath time in our house:

reading/eating a book

chasing the camera

looking out the window

playing peek a boo in the curtains

opening a very early birthday present

eating the bow from the present

getting comfortable crawling with my new backpack
all while wearing my new Halloween pajamas that glow in the dark!

This little man is full of energy & all over the place!!

A late first

I am very behind on documenting Harrison's very first MSU football game! Brian and I took him to the LA Tech game. We were planning on leaving around half time or early in the third quarter. Well...everyone who saw that game knows we were not able to leave early - we stayed until the Dawgs finally pulled in the win in overtime! Harrison did fabulous! He played in our laps, ate snacks & 2 jars of baby food & drank a bottle during the game. Luckily, there is a little boy about 4 or 5 who sits behind us. He kept Harrison entertained for a good portion of the ballgame. And we have great people who sit close around us that all love kids, so we had good support the whole game.

watching the boys practice or the band playing (I can't remember!)

a little worried about the outcome of the ballgame

excited about the Bulldog victory!!

Harrison even took a little power nap during the fourth quarter so he could stay up until the end of overtime! He got to visit with all of our tailgating buddies & meet a co-worker of mine & Brian's from our Vet School student worker days. We hope he continues to do as well as he did for this game at all the others.
I didn't mention in his 9 month post some stats I want to be able to remember in the years to come.
Diaper size: 3
Clothes size: 6-9 months & mostly 9-12 months
Shoe size: 3-4, wearing 12-24 month socks

We may experience another first pretty soon with a trip to the Fair!!
