Sadie is 1 month

This little lady is one month old already!

She has survived living in our crazy house with a 2 year old brother who is constantly trying to pick her up, step on her head, lay down on top of her, throwing toys at her, and trying to feed her snacks!
Sadie is eating every 2-3 hours during the day & usually every 3-4.5 hours at night. Unlike Harrison, she has a "witching" hour every night around 5:00. Generally she just wants to be held during that time. She is not a big fan of the bouncy seat & only likes her swing in small doses. Normally she sleeps on her boppy lounger pillow. She usually has about an hour or two in the morning around 9-10 where she is awake. The rest of the day, she is usually sleeping. I think she is going to be our fat baby. By no means do I think she is currently fat, but she does have more rolls & a bigger belly than Harrison did at this point.
Right now she is still wearing newborn diapers & clothes. A couple of her newborn outfits are getting a little small but 0-3 months are really still too big. Like Harrison, she likes to be swaddled but with her arms out, which kind of defeats the purpose of swaddling. We will probably be moving up to size 1 diapers in the next week. Brian's workers & our Sunday school class both gave us diaper showers so we are very stocked up on diapers & hopefully won't have to buy any for months to come!

Sadie got to meet her great-grandaddy Red on her one month birthday! I am so glad both of my children have gotten to meet 3 of my grandparents because they all have had such a big influence on my life.

All about H

Harrison, age 2

Since I am not good at thinking of all the cute little things Harrison does on a daily basis, I am going to use a template found on Pinterest to update you on our little man.

nicknames: too many to list, Brian & I call him all kinds of things. Some of the kids & teachers at school call him Harry, which we don't really like ;)
how old are you: 25 months
what is your favorite color: Red. This is the first color he learned, and also Elmo is red!
what is your favorite animal: Harrison likes all animals. He loves to look at dogs & elephants - weird combination...
what is your favorite book: This little boy loves to "read" & be read to. His favorites are Goodnight Moon, any Elmo book, an ABC book, 10 Little Ladybugs...
what is your favorite TV show: definitely Curious George. He usually wakes up asking to watch George, that he usually calls oohh oohh aahh aahh or Monkey.
what is your favorite movie: He loves Veggie Tales (called Telly Vales) and The Muppets (called Frog)
what is your favorite song: Recently he has become obsessed with 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman (he calls this My Soul). We listened to it no less than 7 times last night on the way to & from the grocery store.
what is your favorite food: He loves any fruit, most vegetables, yogurt & french fries.
what is your favorite drink: definitely milk (could drink 8-10 cups per day)
what is your favorite breakfast food: cereal!
what is your favorite snack: goldfish
what is your favorite outfit: He is not really interested in clothes...
what is your favorite game: He loves to play his version of chase & any kind of ball (football, basketball, baseball)
what is your favorite toy: all trucks, train, Elmo & Cookie Monster
who is your best friend: Parker & Ella

what is your favorite thing to do: play outside
what is your favorite thing to do outside: jump on the trampoline, swing

what is your favorite holiday: any where you open presents

what do you like to take to bed with you at night: any one of several stuffed animals: Elmo, Cookie Monster, horse, monkey, reindeer, moose
where is your favorite place to go: the park (where we haven't been in a long time because of Mama's pregnancy & the cold, rainy weather)
what is your favorite restaurant: one where he can run around & not sit in a highchair!
where do you want to go on vacation: What's vacation??
what do you want to be when you grow up: I don't think he knows what it means to grow up...
what did you do on your birthday: brought my little sister home from the hospital!

Harrison is generally a very sweet, loving boy. He does have moments when his strong-willed personality comes out, but he is 2 years old & just brought home a little sister! Thankfully, he is usually very sweet to Sadie & wants to kiss & hold her a lot. He is getting more & more independent. He is trying to put shoes on himself, feeds himself well, doesn't want help brushing his teeth or his hair. He still loves to read before getting in his big boy bed but only after he kneels & says his prayers (which is the sweetest part of the day). When he leaves us, he makes sure to tell us Bye Mama, Bye Daddy lubs you! He has gone through a stage of calling Brian, Brian instead of Daddy (I guess because he hears me call him Brian so much). I have coached him so much that "his name is Daddy not Brian" that anytime someone calls him Brian he repeats that to them - "his name Daddy, not Brian"! OOPS! We have moved away from the highchair at home because he got a little table & chairs from grandparents for Christmas but we are still using one at restaurants to try to keep him secured. He has discovered piggy back rides in the last few weeks & always wants to "ride Mama back".
I hate that he is growing up so quickly - he really looks like such a big boy now that we have brought Sadie home - but he is such a fun, energetic age!

I am adding a couple of things that I forgot to mention...
Harrison is not really interested in coloring for long periods of time (even though they color regularly at school). He recognizes & can name all the letters of the alphabet but refuses to sing the ABC song. We are still learning colors, but he can usually recognize red, blue, green & yellow (mostly because he knows that Elmo is red, Cookie is blue, Oscar is green & Big Bird is yellow). He can count to ten but regularly skips over the number 2. He will repeat most any word that we say and is speaking in short sentences. I think that is all for now.

Baby Dedication

We had this sweet angel dedicated yesterday. My mom surprised me & brought the christening gown that my brother & I both wore when we were dedicated. It fit Sadie perfectly! She also wore a bonnet that was my great Aunt Janie's. I forgot to take a picture of her in the bonnet. She did beautifully in the service & while we were on stage. She was dedicated along with 4 other babies.

I just love these sweet baby toes!

Our best attempt at a family picture before any of us got more comfortable & before Harrison went outside & got wet & muddy! Brian & I have the best family. All of Harrison's & Sadie's grandparents came to support us during her dedication. And her sweet daddy gave a beautiful prayer before our meal about how we need prayer that we will raise her according to God's will.

God has truly blessed us with a beautiful family, & we are so thankful!

2 weeks & 2 years

We celebrated our New Year's Eve day with a doctor's appointment for Harrison's 2 year & Sadie's 2 week visit. Here are their stats:

Sadie:
7lbs 9oz - 25-50%
this is over 1 pound gained since our lowest weight on 12/23

20 inches long - 50%
there has to be some discrepancy here since they measured her at 20.75 inches at birth - one of them was definitely wrong

14 inch head circumference - 50%

Little Miss Sadie is pretty much middle of the road so far.

a little size comparison of 2 week & 2 year old legs & feet (excuse all the bruises - Harrison plays hard!)

Harrison:
31lbs - 75-90%
We finally broke the 30lb mark!

35 3/4 inches tall - 75-90%
Weight & height are finally evening out.

19 3/4 inch head circumference - 75-90%

Master Harrison is staying above average on his measurements.

He, of course, had to make sure everyone knew that he was in the office by throwing a fit when he couldn't write on the medical forms we had to fill out for Sadie. Other than that, we had a pretty successful visit with 2 babies. Thankfully my mom came to help me because I could not have done it alone!

Sadie Jane

Well the Whitmires became a family of 4 on December 19, 2012 at 5:01pm. Brian and I arrived at the hospital at 5:40am (yes, we were late!) to be induced that morning. My parents came to stay with us the night before so they could stay with Harrison. I was already contracting regularly when we checked in so we thought things would move along quickly. Little did we know, but Miss Sadie had the cord wrapped around her neck so her heart rate kept dropping, which made me have to lay on my left side all day & the nurses not be able to turn the pitocin up too high. Thankfully, everything went well with delivery, it just took a little longer than we expected, and Sadie still had a 9 for her Apgar score. She weighed in at a slim 6 pounds 14 ounces and was 20.75 inches long. Harrison has adjusted pretty well. He wants to hold her, hug & kiss on her all of the time. She has adjusted pretty well to life on the outside too. She not only looks like Harrison, she is behaving like him too. She is very laid back, hardly ever cries, still sleeps a lot, & eats every 3 hoours on the dot!

We are all so in love & hope she stays this sweet!!
